AR Activity: Job Interview at Google Cyprus | October, 2025
In October 2025, the ARIDLL project conducted a small-scale language learning activity “Job Interview at Google in Cyprus”, designed to support English learners in developing listening and speaking skills through an interactive and engaging experience. The technical implementation was developed by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Open University, while the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and NTNU co-designed the AI prompts and pedagogical content.
The activity involved English language learners at B1–B2 proficiency levels, using iPad Pro devices to engage with an AI-powered virtual HR manager. Learners participated in a simulated job interview for an engineering position at Google Cyprus, responding to questions, presenting themselves, and explaining their qualifications. The AI instructor dynamically adapted its questions to each learner’s proficiency and provided feedback and overall evaluation at the end of the session, transforming the practice into a playful yet meaningful learning experience.
Participants found the activity effective and engaging, noting that it helped reduce stress, build confidence, and provide realistic practice in English. Students highlighted the tool’s ability to promote critical thinking about answers and to prepare them for real-world situations. Overall, the activity was viewed as supportive, empowering, and highly beneficial for language learning in professional contexts.
