On Saturday, 2nd of June 2018, the public event “Children play… and LEARN” was organized with great success by the Kindergarten Association of Lympia. as was attended by dozens of kindergarten and primary school children. As part of the event the Cyprus Interaction Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology (CIL, https://www.cyprusinteractionlab.com) and the Research center on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies (RISE, http://rise.org.cy) co-organized the educational kiosk “Can your program the robots, to accomplish their missions?”. The children who visited our kiosk had the opportunity to take part in various playful educational activities.

In particular, the educational activities were deliver by Mrs. Stella Timotheou (Doctoral student at the Cyprus Interaction Lab) and Dr Yiannis Georgiou (Post-doctoral Researcher at the Cyprus Interaction Lab and at the Research center on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies). During the activities the children were introduced in simple programming concepts and coding practices in a playful manner, via the use of educational robots (Bee-bots for younger children and Edison for the older ones) in order to accomplish various educational tasks. The educational kiosk was very successful as the children who attended the event enjoyed the activities, while the parents expressed their enthusiasm for the learning and also playful nature of programming the educational robots.
